Health Care Workforce in the Southside Region
The Southside Virginia AHEC (SVAHEC) serves 15 counties of Amelia, Brunswick, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Dinwiddie, Greensville, Halifax, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, Prince Edward, Prince George, Surry, and Sussex, and the cities of Emporia, Hopewell, and Petersburg.
The SVAHEC partners with several academic institutions such as Southside Virginia Community College, Danville Community College, Old Dominion University, and Longwood University. In addition, the SVAHEC collaborates with local schools and community health agencies such as Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital to support diverse health-related events.

Center Director
Anjanette Farmer
Anjanette Farmer was born and raised in Danville, VA. She has been employed by PATHS for the past 10 years where she currently works as the Area Health Education Center Director. Anjanette is a graduate of Ashford University with a BA in Health and Human Services. Anjanette specializes in program implementation, budget management and community outreach. She is adept at creating innovative programs that produce maximum results with minimum capital.
As the AHEC Center Director, Anjanette has the role of negotiating college and university contracts while working with appropriate organizations and schools for support of AHEC rotations and sponsored activities in the region. Anjanette assists in the development and implementation of organizational outreach and health careers initiatives. She develops and partners on community events in order to promote health career options and services of the organization. Anjanette directly supervises a total of 10 staff and oversees the objective and outcomes of all grants attached to their roles.
